Exactly. We will have the illusion of a complex windshield without the complexity of making either a complex frame or complex glass. Attaching the flat glass to the frame can either be done by using that black silicone type stuff and letting it set up, or using a molded gasket that will hold the glass, which in turn has to be held to the frame. More complicated, but easier to replace the glass theoretically.
There is a real simple way to make a frame that is easy to glaze with DOT glass using some small square stock and a flat piece of bar stock welded to it. It is supposedly easily disguised also to make it look like a finished windshield...
For using round tubing look up Bugpack 6049... It is a chassis windshield rubber seal that grabs up to 3/8" glass and seals against round tubing. I asked them what diameter tubing it will form to. If it is small enough that is one option that I think would look good.. It could be two simple round tubes running from each side piece that has been drawn, making a slight arc for both the top and bottom of the windshield.
I'm so glad we aren't talking about this!
